Position: OPERATOR ENGINEER

A Union Operating Engineer is a skilled tradesperson who operates and maintains heavy construction equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, excavators, loaders, and other machinery used in construction, mining, and industrial projects.

Job Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operation – Operate heavy machinery such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, pavers, forklifts, and excavators.
  • Maintenance & Repairs – Inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Site Preparation – Assist in grading, excavation, and other site preparation tasks.
  • Safety Compliance – Follow OSHA regulations and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Reading Blueprints – Interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and survey marks to complete tasks accurately.
  • Collaboration – Work with other construction professionals, including laborers, engineers, and project managers, to complete projects efficiently.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in operating heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of construction safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
  • Strong mechanical skills for minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Physical stamina and strength to work long hours in various weather conditions.
Requirements
  • Membership in the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) or other relevant union.
  • Completion of or enrollment in an apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required for some roles.
  • Ability to pass drug screen.
Work Environment
  • Primarily outdoors on construction sites, highways, industrial plants, and mines.
  • May involve long shifts, overtime, and work in extreme weather conditions.
