Job Summary
As a Preservation Architect in Washington you will be responsible for preserving, restoring, and rehabilitating historic buildings and structures. You will work closely with clients, contractors, and government agencies to ensure the preservation of these important pieces of history.
Responsibilities- Conduct on-site assessments of historic buildings to determine their condition and necessary preservation efforts.
- Develop plans for restoration and rehabilitation projects taking into account historical accuracy and structural integrity.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and government agencies to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
- Supervise construction projects to ensure adherence to preservation plans and guidelines.
- Conduct regular inspections of completed projects to ensure long‑term maintenance needs are addressed.
- Research historical building materials and techniques in order to accurately restore or replicate them when needed.
- Keep up‑to‑date with preservation laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture with a focus on Historic Preservation or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working on preservation projects in an architectural firm or government agency.
- In‑depth knowledge of historical building materials, techniques, and architectural styles.
- Familiarity with local and national preservation laws and regulations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and government agencies.
- Detail‑oriented with a strong eye for historical accuracy.
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Salary: $1,400 per month, negotiable based on experience.
LocationLocation: Washington, DC – applicant must have the legal right to work in the United States.
