Job Description & How to Apply Below

At TCF Architecture, we believe that design is a purposeful act – an intentional and pragmatic response to the evolving needs of people and communities. Since 1960, our team has partnered with clients to advance human flourishing, transforming complex challenges into practical, meaningful solutions that empower individuals and strengthen communities.

Based in Tacoma’s Stadium District, our team of 54 professionals specialize in K-12 and Operations facility design, reflecting the hard-working, venturous and genuine spirit of our Pacific Northwest home. Our buildings’ interior design shapes shape how people experience these spaces every day — from finish and material selections to furniture, way finding, and the small details that make a building feel like it belongs to the people who use it.

We offer meaningful opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and impact. If you are passionate about thoughtful, human-centered design and committed to delivering exceptional service, we invite you to join our team.

About the Role

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our Tacoma studio. This role is ideal for a designer with 0–5 years of experience who is fluent in Revit, confident producing polished renderings, and excited to bring materials, finishes, and furnishings to life across a variety of public and civic projects. This candidate will also serve as the studio’s point of contact for our material library and for manufacturer reps and vendors, keeping our resources current and our vendor relationships well managed.

You will work closely with our Interior Design Manager, Design Director, project architects and the architectural team to translate design intent into coordinated, buildable, and beautifully presented documentation.

Position Responsibilities
  • Develop interior design concepts, finish palettes, and material selections that align with project goals, budget, and durability requirements.
  • Build and maintain Revit models for interior scopes, including finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, and details.
  • Produce high-quality renderings and visualizations using D5 Render or Lumion to support client presentations and design reviews.
  • Maintain the office’s material library, including logging and organizing incoming samples, retiring discontinued products, and keeping the library current, well-labeled, and easy for the design team to use.
  • Participate in and help track relationships with interior reps and vendors who visit the office, in conjunction with the Interior Design Manager, staying informed on new products and projects, and reviewing incoming samples to accept or reject them for the material library.

Prepare finish schedules, FF&E specifications, and material boards, and coordinate procurement with vendors and reps.
  • Create compelling presentation graphics and boards using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) for client and community meetings.
  • Apply working knowledge of ADA/accessibility standards, code requirements, and construction assemblies to keep interior design solutions buildable.
  • Coordinate with project architects, engineers, and consultants to integrate interior design decisions into the broader project documentation.
  • Support construction administration tasks related to interiors, including submittal review and finish/FF&E installation coordination.
  • Maintain organized project files, sample libraries, and documentation consistent with firm standards, and keep vendor and rep contact information current for the studio.
  • Contribute ideas and energy to a collaborative studio culture, including internal design reviews and firm marketing efforts.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
  • 0–5 years of professional experience in an architecture or interior design office[AB1] .
  • Proficiency in Revit for production and documentation.
  • Strong rendering and visualization skills using D5 Render, Lumion, or similar real-time rendering software.
