Brief Description of DutiesThe English Program of the University of the District of Columbia seeks applications for a visiting professor assistant professor at the assistant or associate level with a specialization in Technical and Professional Writing. The prevailing candidate will teach technical- and professional writing courses, in addition to offering composition courses in the University’s Interdisciplinary General Education Program. Candidates should display a substantial research and teaching portfolio in the areas of technical and professional writing, along with evidence of ongoing work in at least one of the following areas: social justice, DEI pedagogy, antiracism and diversity, and activist- and community writing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach technical- and professional writing at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate levels
- Teach English required- and elective courses in area of specialization
- Teach writing courses within the University’s General Education Program
- Assist in program- and college-level assessment and support program-level initiatives during the academic year
Job Requirements
- PhD in English, Comparative Literature, or related field
- At least 3 years of experience teaching at the college level
- Significant publication activity
- Active professional network visibility
