Assistant Principal - High School

Job Goal

Lead in partnership with school staff, students, and families to create conditions that enable effective instruction, family and community partnerships, and social justice and equity.

• Assist the principal in leading and managing the educational and supporting activities of the staff and student body to provide a safe, engaging learning environment.
• Lead and manage the school’s student management, attendance, and security to maintain high standards of conduct and a school climate that results in all students achieving at high levels.
• Assist the principal in planning, organizing and implementing District-approved instructional materials, assessment and staff development that are focused on improving student achievement.
• Assist the principal in leading the school community in the implementation and ongoing assessment of the school improvement plan.
• Lead and manage the school’s student activities to ensure equity in opportunities that promote student excellence.
• Initiate and foster positive relationships between the school, parents and community.
• Supervise educational programs that provide for diverse student needs including basic education, special education, LAP, and ELL needs.
• Supervise and evaluate certificated and classified staff to maximize performance and student achievement.
• Participate in recruiting, interviewing and recommending the appointment of outstanding staff members who set high expectations for themselves and for all students.
• Ensure the safe, healthy condition of the school through the proper care and safeguarding of school property, equipment and supplies.
• Attend school-sponsored activities, special events and functions that support student excellence.
• Supervise co-curricular student leadership activities and ASB budget.
• Provide supervision to coaches, including participation in selection and evaluation.
• Assist in the management and supervision of budget, equipment, supplies, inventories, facilities, transportation and event.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must hold current Washington principal credential.
• Master's degree in education with an emphasis in educational administration or related field.
• At least five (5) years successful experience as a secondary classroom teacher.
• Demonstrated leadership and knowledge of high school programs, including instructional supervision, curriculum management, student management and student activities.
• Successful leadership experience in the supervision of secondary school programs.
