Position Hours And Pay
7 hours per day for 4 days for the first year and 2 days each year after until certification is completed.
Position pay: PSE Salary Schedule Level 5 – $24.76 (25‑26 PSE Salary Schedule).

Important InformationMust successfully complete the Fundamental Course of Studies (FCS) and the General Para educator Certificate of the state‑mandated Para educator Certificate Program per State requirements. Para educator Certificate Program is dependent upon State funding.
Job SummaryAssist certificated staff with instructional and non‑instructional activities for students considered academically "at risk," working individually or in small groups under a category remediation program Title I. Maintain program records and prepare classroom materials under the supervision of a Title I Specialist.
Federal Minimum Employment Requirements- Must be 18 years of age.
- Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Meet at least one of the following:
- Successfully passed the ETS Para Pro test or Pearson Paraprofessional assessment.
- AA degree or higher.
- Earned seventy‑two (72) quarter credits or forty‑eight (48) semester credits at an accredited institution of higher education.
- Completion of a registered apprenticeship program offered by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.
- Successful completion of The Master Teacher Inc. Para educator Online Training Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Instruct students individually or in small groups in a variety of subject areas, settings and learning activities. Implement methods to best serve individual students academically and behaviorally under the direction of certificated staff. Promote student understanding, a positive attitude toward learning, and reinforce concepts and skills.
- Assist with program compliance by maintaining accurate data and program records on the computer; collect, input and process data and documentation for the LA or Title I program of an entire school.
- Work as a member of the program instructional team to provide programs and services to eligible students.
- Depending on assignment, pull students out of the regular classroom for remediation as directed by the program coordinator. Locate, prepare and/or modify materials for student use under the direction of certificated staff. Provide guidance, motivation, and facilitate mastery of skills and concepts.
- Communicate with certificated staff concerning individual student needs and progress; assist with developing tutoring schedules; adapt and present lessons; check and score student assignments.
- Assist with administration of objective screening of students for program qualification and eligibility; set up testing schedules, order tests, score tests and record results. Communicate information to teachers so that they may notify parents.
- Document progress of assigned students; maintain program coordination records manually and on computer; assist in preparing student progress reports and program achievement tests.
- Maintain a variety of program files and records according to established procedures and timelines, including student lists and program inventory; may provide information for program audits and prepare reports as directed.
- Construct learning tools such as flash cards, number games, and other learning materials; may research, locate, compile, and order materials and supplies as needed.
- Supervise student behavior and assist the teacher with classroom management; facilitate mastery of social adjustment skills; ensure that students stay on task; discipline students as authorized.
