JOB OVERVIEW

The Coordinator directly supports the core programming and students served through the Academic Center of Excellence. The Coordinator reports to the ACE Faculty for Accessibility and Assessment. This position supports the Faculty of the ACE.

CORE FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES Academic Center of Excellence Responsibilities
  • Assist in facilitating the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
  • Assist in establishing a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Assist in the instruction and supervision of students. This may involve supporting assignment completion, reading material aloud, explaining directions/concepts.
  • Monitor student work and intervene with support/instruction as needed.
  • Engage principles of explicit instruction through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Deliver small group instruction prepared/directed by the supervising faculty.
  • Implement, monitor, and collect data for individual student progress and trend data.
  • Assist in modification of classroom materials.
  • Use appropriate behavior management techniques to maintain a positive climate for learning.
  • Communicate effectively (openly and honestly) with all team members.
  • React to change productively and carry out all assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of the school and the Academic Center for Excellence.
  • React positively to supervision and constructive feedback.
  • Participate in staff development to stay current with best practices.
  • Engage in academic coaching of students.
Testing Center Responsibilities
  • Learn and manage the Register Blast testing coordination system
  • Assist in staff development for Register Blast
  • Communicate effectively with faculty/staff/students regarding testing protocol under the direction of the ACE Faculty supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with students and families with IAP’s regarding testing protocol, deadlines,and documentation per the direction of the ACE Faculty supervisor.
  • Support standardized testing accommodations for AP, SAT and ACT.
  • Support HSPT & Math Placement testings in coordination with the ACE Faculty supervisor.
  • Manage protocol for delivering special testing accommodations including scribing and/or reading.
General Responsibilities
  • Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.
  • Set and maintain high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
  • Assist in providing for the general physical and emotional needs of students.
  • Prepare instructional materials and supplies.
  • Escort and supervise students to and from various school facilities and areas.
  • Assist in the maintenance and inventory of materials.
  • Assist in safeguarding confidential information.
  • Other duties as assigned by the ACE Faculty supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Two years' experience in similar position performing the duties and demonstrating a general level of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above;
  • Combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required;
  • Bachelor's degree required.
