JFL Consulting, LLC is seeking a talented and motivated Linux Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be part of a team of network, system and security engineers tasked with the remediation of existing network equipment and upgrading to new equipment. Responsibilities- Perform systems engineering and software development in multiple large enterprise server environments (e.g., Linux, Red Hat, and CentOS).
- Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
- Perform technical evaluations and analysis.
- Support the customer in the development and maintenance of systems baselines.
- Assess server loads and collaborate with technical leads to develop performance tuning recommendations.
- Complete day-to-day Operations & Maintenance (O&M) tasks.
- Perform operating system software updates, upgrades, and patches.
- Additional duties, as assigned.
- Security+, CASP+, or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II/III certification as defined in DoDD 8570.01, 8570.01-M, and 8140 series.
- Strong experience with Linux, including Red Hat and its derivatives (CentOS, RHEL, Rocky
OS). - Proficiency in shell scripting and Linux command line usage.
- Experience providing Linux administration and engineering support in large-scale enterprise virtualized server environments.
- Experience with virtualization platforms including VMware, Xen, and Hyper-V.
- Proven ability to provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.
- Experience with programming/scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, and PHP.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Foreman).
- Preferred 5+ Years within Linux enterprise environment.
- Bachelors/Masters preferred or 10+ years of experience with required certifications.
- CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA, SUSE Certified Administrator SCA, or SCE.
