Position Description
Tacoma Power is looking for a Program Manager to join their Power Management team. In this role you will work directly with customers and trade allies to scope and implement lighting conservation projects with commercial and industrial business customers. As a successful candidate, you will have strong technical knowledge of legacy technologies, LED lighting, lighting controls, and lighting systems. You will also have experience managing energy efficiency lighting projects or programs, such as Tacoma Power’s Bright Rebate program, from inception to completion.
With lighting market conditions changing, you will need to have a strong technical knowledge base in energy conservation techniques and lighting technologies to develop and launch programs and/or pilots for commercial and industrial customers. This role is a term‑limited position proposed for 3 years and will be able to work virtually for 2 days a week and will be in‑office or in the field for the remaining 3 days.
- Implement complex lighting solutions and controls, in challenging lighting environments.
- Oversee customer efficiency projects to ensure they are completed in compliance with program requirements.
- Meet with customers who are interested in improving overall building energy efficiency to evaluate occupant energy use.
- Perform building audits and bill analysis in response to Commercial and Industrial (C/I) customer inquiries, making efficiency and conservation recommendations where applicable.
- Market and promote energy saving programs to C/I customers by preparing cash flow analyses, return on investments, and life cycle cost analyses.
- Monitor project progress in relation to annual budget goals.
- Inspect and approve lighting and other conservation projects as assigned.
- Assess market conditions and recommend potential program or pilot offerings.
- Research program offerings of other utilities through networking, internet research and workgroup meetings.
- Drive new program development and provide needed information to gain needed approvals.
- Establish cross‑functional teams of subject matter experts (SME) and stakeholders, with the assistance of supervisors and managers.
- Coordinate the work of internal and external SMEs/stakeholders in program/pilot development.
- Preparation of program development and program workflow documents.
- Read, interpret and apply contract provisions, energy services technical specifications and federal program requirements as related to the development of new incentive programs.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management or directly related field.
Minimum Experience
- 4 years of experience in energy conservation or energy efficiency programs.
- Relevant education and experience may substitute for one another on a year‑for‑year basis.
