Role Description

Bright Star is recruiting an experienced Civil Structural Engineer to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This position is full-time and is hybrid. This role will work with a federal agency to execute its tactical technology infrastructure design and construction activities along the borders of the United States.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support compliance with Government standards throughout the planning, design, and construction phases of infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure project deliverables meet Government requirements and technical standards.
  • Review engineering design plans and collaborate with designers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, directives, and standards.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance during project planning, design, and construction activities.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve design and construction issues and ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Apply design and/or construction management knowledge to support successful project execution.
  • Maintain strong communication and organizational practices while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Foster positive working relationships with Government personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders through a professional, collaborative approach.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years' experience in civil/structural engineering design, or civil engineering management.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or related field.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Construction management
  • Tower design, maintenance and construction
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Project.
  • Experience contributing to multiple projects simultaneously with independent schedules and budgets.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude with a strong track record of effective customer communication, including feedback gathering, execution updates, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to work efficiently in teams comprising both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Comfortable and skilled in adapting to rapidly changing environments with dynamic objectives and user interactions.
  • Approximately 25% travel within CONUS will be required.
  • This position is contingent on passing a CBP Background Investigation (BI). Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a comprehensive government security investigation. The background investigation includes financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, and employment verifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Highly Preferred:
    Active/Full U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) BI
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP)

Pay: $120,000 – $150,000 per year
