PositionSummary
The Events Assistant provides logistical and administrative support for trainings, meetings, and special events under the direction of the Associate Director of Conference Services and Community Engagement. This role ensures event spaces are properly set up and equipped and that event operations run smoothly. The Events Assistant works closely with the Associate Director to support internal departments and external partners to coordinate event needs and respond to on-site requests.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting, are required.
- Event Logistics
- Move and arrange furniture, such as tables and chairs, according to event specifications.
- Set up and adjust audio-visual equipment including projectors, screens, microphones, and sound systems.
- Assist with the setup of registration desks, signage, and other event-related areas.
- Assist with other event duties such as catering, ushering, decorating, and laundry.
- Communications & Collaboration
- Provide exceptional customer service in all interactions.
- Interact with event organizers and attendees to address needs and ensure smooth event execution.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as facilities, catering, and IT to ensure a cohesive event experience.
- Inventory, tracking, auditing of spaces, furnishings, equipment, and campus bulletin boards
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in hospitality, events, or related field.
Conditions of Employment
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
- Possess a current, valid, unrestricted driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Terms of Employment
This part-time hourly position is bound by the WAC provisions above. This requires a flexible schedule to accommodate event coordination needs, including evenings and weekends. Weekly schedules will be coordinated with the Associate Director to ensure coverage, responsiveness, and work-life balance. The pay rate is $20 per hour. Work location is all property owned and operated by Tacoma Community College including Tacoma Campus and Gig Harbor Campus.
