Production Manager
Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, the Production Manager oversees technical planning and execution of performances and events at Tacoma City Theaters, including lighting, audio, video, rigging, staging, labor, and back‑of‑house operations.
Responsibilities- Communicate with clients, artist management, and internal staff to gather technical requirements, develop production plans, fulfill riders, conduct advances, create diagrams, schedule labor calls, process equipment orders, and coordinate artist hospitality.
- Serve as liaison between the facility and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with ADA, NFPA, OSHA, and Legends Global policies.
- Schedule and supervise labor calls for IATSE crews; manage the Production Coordinator and IATSE Stage Technicians.
- Produce events while maintaining public safety, coordinate with event and support teams, and manage budgets, estimates, payroll, vendor charges, and vendor relationships.
- Oversee maintenance, repairs, and preventative upkeep of sound, lighting, rigging, electrical, mechanical, and backstage systems; recommend capital improvements and system upgrades.
- Participate in securing the venue during operations, events, emergencies, and closures; maintain accurate event records and documentation.
- Serve as Manager on Duty and provide general supervision during events; attend staff meetings and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships.
- Manage the Production Coordinator and the IATSE Local 15 Union Crew, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Flexible work schedule with readiness for daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays.
- Professional attire and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient with spreadsheets, word processing, and willingness to learn event‑planning/production software.
- Strong knowledge of rigging, A/V, lighting systems, stage mechanics, and technical operations.
- Experience supervising venue operations, maintenance, and equipment use.
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute complex production needs; strong leadership, communication, and people skills.
- Familiarity with production estimates, budgets, maintenance schedules, technical specifications, stage plots, sketches, and spreadsheets.
- 4‑year degree in Theatre with a technical emphasis or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a performing arts center, theater, or arena.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, state, and other work‑environment safety regulations and public‑safety issues.
- Prior supervisory experience.
Base salary: $80,170. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; paid vacation; and a 401(k) plan.
Working ConditionsOn‑site work at Tacoma, WA (Pantages Theater, Rialto Theater, Theatre on the Square). Must tolerate high noise levels, and be prepared for irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical DemandsDaily lifting up to 50 lbs., constant reaching, standing, walking, and performing repetitive eye/hand coordination. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
