Overview

About the Role: As the first point of contact for most clients, Tellers play a key role in delivering on the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards. They ensure banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations while maintaining and enhancing client relationships through meaningful conversations.

• Perform teller transactions and cash handling functions with accuracy and confidentiality, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, and balancing the cash drawer.
• Ensure compliance with bank procedures and banking regulations for all transactions.
• Maintain the integrity of branch operations by balancing the ATM using double custody, processing night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, balancing the credit card machine, and updating lobby rate sheets and brochures.
• Mitigate risk by safeguarding cash in the drawer and ensuring prompt accounting or transfer of funds.
• Interact with external and internal clients to anticipate needs, provide proactive solutions, and resolve problems in alignment with the bank’s Breakthrough Client Service Standards.
• Continuously deepen knowledge of Columbia Bank’s product and service offerings and stay current on changes.
• Discuss and uncover customers’ financial needs to identify and offer appropriate products and services, supporting referral goals for the branch by focusing on and referring basic bank products to the appropriate business partner.

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• 1 year of previous banking or customer service experience (preferred).
• Bilingual skills preferred.
• Ability to learn and comply with all Bank policies, procedures, and systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with written numbers, words, and verbal and written instructions.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with clients and associates.

Pay range: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour. Pay rate depends on various factors including knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location. Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation.

Primary location: 2718 N Proctor Street Suite 105, Tacoma, WA 98407. Full onsite work required.
