Overview
This role is a Finance Specialist who provides specialized financial management services within The Nature Conservancy (TNC), handling accounting, budgeting, reporting, and private award administration. The position aligns with TNC policies and best practices and supports staff across functional areas.
LocationRemote position located within Washington or Oregon.
Responsibilities & Scope- Coordinate multiple projects and deliverable outcomes on a timely basis.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, financial reports, and communicate financial information to project staff.
- Prepare journal entries and other financial transactions.
- Maintain BU financial data, including journal entries, adjustments, and project records.
- Research transactions, prepare ad hoc reports, and identify follow-up actions as needed.
- Administer financial reporting and private awards, including state and local tax filings and compliance for related entities.
- Ensure programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
- Provide backup support for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field and 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting financial data.
- Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis, using accounting and financial reporting systems;
Workday preferred. - Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices and regulations or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) (Canada).
- Experience organizing time and managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks and using technology to achieve desired results.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion in work and workplace. Experience with nonprofit accounting and TNC policies, procedures, and financial systems is desired.

- Experience with TNC policies, procedures and financial systems.

71,200–90,780 (USA) based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
