TAPCO Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative serving over 30,000 members, with deep roots in Pierce County since its founding in 1934 by City of Tacoma employees. The Senior Member Service Representative is a full-time, on-site role based in Tacoma, WA. This position is responsible for assisting members with a wide range of financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, account inquiries, loan payments, and service requests. The role includes opening and maintaining accounts, explaining credit union products and services, and guiding members toward appropriate financial solutions. The Senior Member Service Representative also resolves member issues, responds to phone and in-person inquiries, and ensures accurate recordkeeping and compliance with regulatory requirements.
This role supports branch operations, mentors team members, and contributes to a positive, service-focused environment aligned with TAPCO’s “People Helping People” philosophy.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and explain financial information clearly.
- Professional phone etiquette and comfort handling member inquiries and issues over the phone and in person.
- Solid computer literacy, including proficiency with banking or customer service software and standard office applications.
- Basic knowledge of finance, banking products, and account management, with the ability to learn TAPCO’s specific offerings.
- Previous experience in a financial institution, retail banking, or credit union environment preferred.
- Attention to detail, accuracy in handling cash and transactions, and adherence to security and compliance standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a branch team, support peers, and adapt to changing member needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in finance or business is a plus.
