The Field Operations Bureau is primarily responsible for traffic law enforcement, collision investigation, and motorist assists on 7,056.18 centerline miles (18,642 lane miles) of state highways and interstates. The bureau oversees eight geographical districts statewide, where commissioned troopers carry out the department's primary goal of providing a safe motoring environment for the public.

District 7, under the command of Captain Deion Glover, is situated in the northwest corner of Washington with headquarters located in Marysville. The district provides service in Island, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom Counties.

Detachment offices are located in Bellingham, Burlington, Monroe, Oak Harbor, and Silverlake. In addition, a port of entry for commercial vehicles is located southbound on Interstate 5 at Bow Hill. There are over 200 employees assigned to traffic law enforcement, traffic investigations, narcotics investigations, Homeland Security Division, vehicle inspections, Crime Laboratory, Communications, Electronic Services, and support services. The district serves as a major gateway into British Columbia, Canada, via Interstate 5 and Bellingham is the southernmost terminal for the Alaska Marine Highway System.

• Makes decisions for District Commander on administrative matters
• Facilitates work on behalf of the District Commander
• Represents District Commander at meetings
• Compose and send Thank Yous for compliments; respond to ‘complaints’ not involving specific personnel (HOV violations, etc.).
• Speaks on behalf of the District Commander at meetings, conferences, etc. on administrative policy matters
• Updates policies regarding procedures for administrative matters
• Prepares briefing materials, reports, and other supporting materials to be used by the District Commander
• Represents the District Commander with delegated authority by managing, monitoring, and providing information on district programs such as CALEA (coordinator for the district), CITE, TEMS, E-Train, AXON Projects, and district LEAN program

• High school diploma or GED
• Four years clerical/office experience (Associate’s degree in business administration or related field may substitute for two years of the required experience)
