Smith Habilitation Services provides community-based and individualized support for individuals with developmental disabilities. Partnering with the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) of Washington State, the organization fosters life skills that empower individuals to achieve maximum self-efficiency and inclusion in the community. Services include Life Skills, Staff/Family Consultations, and Stabilization, all of which are tailored to the unique needs and goals of each client.
Smith Habilitation Services is dedicated to offering support in alignment with habilitative goals outlined in the Person-Centered Service Plan (PCSP) while adhering to the Specialized Habilitation Policy.
This is a part-time, on-site role for a Life Skills Specialist in Tacoma, WA. The Life Skills Specialist will assist individuals with developmental disabilities by providing personalized support in developing and enhancing daily living skills to promote independence and community inclusion. Responsibilities include implementing life skills training programs, facilitating community activities, collaborating with families and care teams, and maintaining accurate documentation of client progress and goals.
Qualifications- 2 years experience with life skills training and developmental disabilities support
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and care teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate documentation
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for empowering individuals with disabilities
- Flexibility to work on-site in Tacoma, WA and adapt to clients' unique needs
- Experience or knowledge of habilitation services and community inclusion programs is a plus
- Life Skills Coach certificate, BA in related field, or Masters in related field.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
