Barry Huse, OD & Associates, P.S. in Tacoma, WA

Barry Huse, OD & Associates, P.S. is seeking an Optometrist to join the team following the upcoming retirement of one of its providers, planned for September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-established, community‑centered practice and continue delivering high‑quality, personalized eye care to a diverse patient base.

Why Join Us

Barry Huse, OD & Associates, P.S. is a well‑established practice in Tacoma, WA, that has served the community since 2001 with a mission to inspire lifelong vision wellness through innovative, customized eye care and patient education. The practice offers a wide range of services, including myopia management, scleral lenses, dry eye management with IPL/PLLT, advanced lens designs, primary care optometry, disease management, refraction, and contact lens fitting.

Following a 2022 remodel, the exam suite features Marco equipment and in‑house diagnostic technology, including OCT, pachymetry, visual field testing, and axial length measurement, helping providers deliver comprehensive care without referring patients out. Located in an urban area near the mall, the practice serves a diverse patient population, with approximately 15 patients seen per doctor each day and typically two doctors working daily.

This creates a dynamic, meaningful environment for an empathetic Optometrist who values relationship‑based care, embraces new technology, and is eager to make a lasting impact in a supportive, community‑centered practice.

What You’ll Do

As an Optometrist, you’ll provide comprehensive primary care optometry in a dynamic practice setting, including disease management, refractions, contact lens fittings, and routine and specialized eye care for patients across life stages. Using advanced diagnostic technology and collaborating closely with opticians, technicians, and administrative staff, you’ll deliver precise, personalized care and create a seamless, compassionate patient experience. This full‑time role offers three to four days per week, totaling 40 hours.

Who

You Are

You’re a kind, empathetic provider who makes patients feel valued, understood, and confident in their care. With a passion for improving vision health, you’re comfortable caring for a diverse patient base with a wide range of visual needs, life stages, and treatment goals. You’re also eager to stay current with advancements in optometry, embrace new technology, and contribute to process improvements that enhance the patient experience and support the practice’s continued growth.

You’ll bring a collaborative mindset and strong communication skills as you partner with opticians, technicians, and administrative staff to support a positive team environment and deliver meaningful care to the Tacoma community.
