About our Healthcare Account Specialist position

Under the general supervision of the Patient Access Center Manager, responds to health center,patient,and insurance company inquiries at our Tacoma call center.

What will you be doing!

Answers phones and responds tobillinginquiries and requests.

Performs benefit verification of surgical and other high dollar services, processes payments,and setsup payment plans.

Communicates in a clear, positive, and detailed manner while remaining focused on meeting our patient’s needs. Handles delicate, confidential, and stressful situations and performs additional tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

Answers a multi-lined phonesystemand responds to a variety of requests from health center staff,patients,and insurance company representatives.

Provides response to questions in a timely, reliable, and courteous manner.

Demonstrates an active, calm, and positive approach to problem solving.

Processes patient payments and sets up payment plans. Addresses patient account questions and works with patients to resolve issues with billing.

Audits and flags patient balances to be sent to the collection agency.

Processes lab billing error requests.

Processes payment validation requests for Action Collection.

Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.

Verifies insurance/benefit coverage information.

Reviews and responds to PM patient portal messages.

Posts third party payments to accounts; performs write- offs;andmoves balances to patient responsibility as appropriate.

Maintains HIPAA compliance standards regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.

Completes work within authorized time to ensure compliance with departmental standards.

Works collaboratively with Revenue Cycle Operations to maximize and facilitate efficient and accurate billing and resolve process and billing issues.

Participates in the development and implementation of insurance billing procedures and policies for PPGNHAIK and operations policies for the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

One or more years of customer service and medical terminology preferred,and knowledge of medical insurance companies and their billing procedures, basic knowledge of coordination of payments and diagnosis codes.

Salary Range:

Non-exempt: $21.30 -$31.21 hourly

Position Type:

Full-time – This is a union position.
