Human Resources Business Partner

The Opportunity Human Resources Business Partner at a growth-oriented downstream energy company. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this role will be providing exemplary customer service to our clients and support day to day human resources in our company mission "Humbly Serving Communities."

  • Talent Management – Ensure fair, consistent and focused recruitment practices to attract and retain an engaged, diverse and high performing team.
  • Oversee the onboarding/off-boarding processes.
  • Compensation Administration – Review and update job descriptions. Participate in industry salary surveys in collaboration with the compensation team. Conduct compensation reviews and analyses for equity, job-leveling, and career path design.
  • Work with corporate compensation team to assess and recommend compensation levels/grades for internal transfers, promotions, etc.
  • Benefits administration – Respond to employee requests for benefits information or reports of issues with insurance, 401(k) or other benefit enrollments. Elevate issues to employee benefit administration for appropriate resolution and ensure timely follow-up/incident closure.
  • Employee Relations – Provide guidance, training, and insight for employee relations actions/issues. Coach and advise supervisors on sensitive matters in order to mitigate risk. Deliver employee relations services, including counseling, coaching and conflict resolution. Advise on disciplinary action strategy and prepare supporting documents. Conduct employee/workplace investigations.
  • Labor Relations – Maintain compliance with union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Administer all union hourly classification movements per contractual obligations. Coordinate, attend and document all company/union meetings. Support future negotiation efforts. Research, coordinate and draft grievance responses in a timely manner. Coordinate any agreed-upon actions resulting from meetings. Maintain a positive working relationship with representatives.
  • Leave administration – Administer employee paid and unpaid absences in accordance with Family and Medical Leave Act and Washington State's Paid Family and Medical Leave. Engage in the interactive process for reasonable accommodations and administer return to work with or without restrictions.
  • Performance Management – Coach managers and employees on performance evaluation ratings, rating calibration, goal setting and goal review. Identification of high potential employees and opportunities for development. Prepare and track succession plans for key roles. Administer and create performance improvement plans. Conduct data analysis to report on HR metrics and KPIs for better organizational awareness. Facilitate and/or participate in cross-functional groups to develop key HR initiatives to improve organizational performance.
  • Develop and maintain status of compliance of all federal, state and local laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, FLSA, and EEO. Additionally, ensure reporting and audit support to responsible agencies.
  • Develop and deliver HR-related training programs to employees at all levels within the organization, e.g., hiring/recruitment, harassment prevention, substance abuse, leave administration, etc.
  • Administer required operational screening functionality and tracking (e.g., random drug screening, hearing conservation program, respirator fit testing, and physical clearances). Ensure timely reporting and compliance with responsible regulatory agencies.
