Systems Engineer

Job Description Pay Range: $96,000 - $120,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications MITER Brands is a residential window and door manufacturer that provides a leading portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related infrastructure are continually up and running, and that system-wide backups and monitoring are accurate and complete.

This position can be based in Tacoma, WA or North Venice, FL – Please note that there is a travel requirement listed below under Qualifications Why work at MITER Brands?

Responsibilities Life cycle maintenance of systems

Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations

Provide restores from backups when requested

Proactively check backup health and completeness

Proactively monitor and respond to system wide health

Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems

Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes

Respond to system outages

Install and configure new hardware and software

Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system

Troubleshoot problems, both hardware and software, with systems

Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes

Perform routine audits of systems and software

Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advance notice

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s degree in Computer/IT related field is desired7+ years’ experience as a Server System Administrator in Windows, Unix, and/or Linux5+ years’ networking experience, including firewalls, switches, and routers

Experience in a role supporting multiple locations is desired

Experience with DNS, DHCP, Active Directory Experience managing MS Internet Information Server (IIS)

Experience with MS SQL, Oracle or MySQL is desired

Experience with Net App Storage is preferred

Experience with VMware and Nutanix virtualization platforms, including deployment, administration, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure preferred

Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence

Excellent problem-solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentation

Strong interpersonal skills

Willing to travel 10% - 25%
Physical requirements

Prolonged standing and periodically lifting, stretching and twisting

Prolonged sitting and terminal useMay be required to lift up to 50 lbs. periodically

Hand dexterity and strength

Work outside normal hours may be required, including some weekends as needed to support the needs of the business

Work environment

Work performed primarily indoors and in production type facility
