Summary

CHS Inc., a leading global agribusiness owned by farmers, ranchers, and cooperatives across the United States, is seeking a reliable and safety‑driven Terminal Operations Supervisor for our Tacoma, Washington terminal. This role is essential in overseeing daily terminal operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance across rotating day and night shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Terminal Manager with daily operations of facility to ensure housekeeping, safety and compliance are adhered to and take corrective action as needed.
  • Manage loading/unloading operations of grain, bin the products properly, communicate with rail/barge dispatching representatives, load out products meeting contract requirements and understand FGIS standards and methods.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to eliminate reoccurring housekeeping and operational problems or inefficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot causes of operational problems and oversee coordination of proactive and reactive activities on a day to day basis.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety programs to meet all corporate and governmental regulations. Maintain all required documentation.
  • Assist the Assistant Terminal Manager and Terminal Manager in incident and near miss investigations.
  • Provide work direction, training, and cross‑training for all production and laborer positions and assist with evaluating employee performance.
  • Participate and conduct employee and contractor orientation: review facility rules, safety policies and programs, regulations and operational processes.
  • Adhere to all hiring and termination practices outlined in labor contracts, if applicable, and legal standards. Maintain all required documentation.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations pertaining to terminal operation.
  • Work with the Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) on daily and quarterly basis, regarding safety and housekeeping inspections and compliance.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in Operations and/or Pipeline Production Operations.
Additional Qualifications
  • Previous Terminal Operations experience including any of the following:
    • Maintenance and/or Production operations and management
    • Employee supervision
    • Environmental Health & Safety experience
  • Detail‑oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively manage change.
  • Strong decision‑making skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including nights, weekends and holidays).
  • Pre‑employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre‑employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse.

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
