Manufacturing Engineer
Position Summary
Responsibilities include translating drawings and electronic data into CNC part programs such that geometry and labor standards are met, supporting machine prove‑out activities, coordinating machine/process sequences with the team, and designing tools and fixtures. The role develops time/cost estimates for new parts, supports efficient manufacturing processes, optimizes existing production parts, and incorporates technological advances to maintain product quality and cost leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Using manufacturing techniques in accordance with customer specifications, develop 3, 4 and 5 axis NC programs using CATIA V5.
- Develop NC part programs that deliver the most efficient, cost‑effective, and highest quality process.
- Create setup and supporting documentation to instruct machine operators on loading and executing NC programs.
- Support AS9100 audits and ensure compliance with established standards.
- Translate drawings and electronic data into part programs to meet geometry and labor standards.
- Ensure programmed part numbers meet schedules and that programming/prove‑out hours meet estimated budgets.
- Assist engineering in developing accurate part estimates for customer RFQs.
- Understand state‑of‑technology in metal machining and IT to recommend capital asset upgrades to executive leadership.
- Maintain data integrity by correctly populating specified fields for system accuracy.
- Respond accurately to audit questions based on the Programming CAD/CAM and Engineering Procedures manuals.
- Develop new and existing parts per established schedules and budgets.
- Ensure production methods consistently achieve labor and quality standards.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency.
- Keep ERP system information complete and accurate.
- Maintain a technologically competent supplier image in the eyes of external customers.
- Integrate new technology advances when appropriate.
- Continuously reduce the cost of producing existing parts.
- Reduce the overall span time of existing production parts.
- Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
- Report to work on time, follow supervisor or management instructions, and adhere to work rules and procedures.

- 7–10 years of CNC programming and tool design experience with 3, 4, and 5‑axis machining centers.
- Preferred experience machining hard metals on 3, 4, and 5‑axis machines.
- Working knowledge of metal removal cutting technology.
- Experience with CATIA V5 and newer.
- Experience with Vericut.
- Modeling, tool design, and drafting capabilities a plus.
- Utilize customer drawings and/or solid models to develop CNC programs that meet engineering requirements.
- Exceptional measuring and blueprint reading abilities; analyze dimensional results of prove‑outs and correct discrepancies.
- Participate in cross‑functional team activities encompassing bid review, engineering plan development, and manufacturing producibility.
- Communicate with Union Journey Level personnel to problem‑solve and implement shop‑floor improvements.
- Read and write English.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Write simple correspondence.
- Present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group settings to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Proficient understanding of requirements.
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to interact with all functions and levels of employees.
