Setup Technician (Injection Molding)
We are seeking a skilled Setup Technician for our injection molding department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing tooling dies, ensuring molds and equipment are safely set up and functioning properly, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Responsibilities- Install tooling dies (molds) into injection molding machines.
- Verify that molds and ancillary equipment are safely set up and functioning correctly.
- Remove ancillary equipment from work centers after production runs are complete.
- Clean and store molds and equipment in a safe, protected condition.
- Use a variety of hand tools in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Operate a pallet jack and manage resin handling, drying, and movement.
- Keep accurate records of time spent on tasks and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
- Conduct mold heater setup and operation, and verify all mold/equipment setup processes.
- Operate injection molding machines in 'Setup Mode' and document equipment parameters.
- Flag broken or unsafe tools and equipment with a red tag.
- Operate forklifts and train Material Handlers and Mold Setup (Level
1). - Issue MRO work orders for damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
- Install and verify position switches on all features of a tool and ensure proper vacuum verification on tooling.
- Effective communication and ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to keep accurate quality records and perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Dependability with reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Technical aptitude with attention to detail and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical documents.
- Experience using measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Basic mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge.

- Experience in injection molding setup and machine operation.
- Blueprint reading and preventive maintenance knowledge.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Work EnvironmentOur work environment involves the use of hand tools, pallet jacks, and injection molding machines. Technicians are expected to maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols. This role requires wearing appropriate attire for a manufacturing setting and may involve shift work.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Tacoma, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $49400.00 - $63960.00/yr.
