Learn To:

Set up machines in a timely and safe manner and operate conventional, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate primarily metal parts by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Have The Ability To:

• Prepare and operate more than one type of machine tool such as grinders, mills, drill presses, lathes, etc., on machining operations of moderate complexity.
• Read and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Read technical manuals to understand equipment and controls
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and/or adjusts machine controls
• Verify specifications have been followed.

Education/Experience/

Skills Required:

• One or more years of related experience is desirable, but not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude recommended.
• Communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Listens and gets clarification.
• Able to read and understand written information.
• Is consistently at work and on time.
• Follow instructions, respond to management direction, and exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
• Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
• Observe safety and security procedures.

Physical Demands:

• Walk and stand CONTINUOUSLY over the course of the 8 to 10 hour work shift.
• Lift weights up to 20 pounds from floor to chest CONTINUOUSLY, which includes the various tools utilized in the process of performing the usual work duties.
• Lift weights up to 50 pounds OCCASIONALLY
• Hear sufficiently to be aware of safety issues.
• Visual ability to read and interpret shop drawings as well as operate machinery.
• Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. PPE includes steel-toe safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
