Manufacturing Production Supervisor I

Location:

Washington State Pay Rate: $40.00 – $42.00 per hour Position Overview

Our client, a large food production organization, is seeking two Manufacturing Production Supervisors for onsite, six-month contract engagements in Washington State. Each supervisor will lead a production shift, owning safety, output, quality, and the development of the frontline team on that shift. This is a hands‑on leadership role rather than a desk position. It suits a supervisor who is comfortable on the floor, who can hold standards without losing the team, and who understands that consistent output in food manufacturing comes from disciplined process and engaged people.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will supervise production associates across an assigned shift, directing daily line assignments, managing labor coverage against the production schedule, and adjusting staffing in response to absenteeism, changeovers, and demand fluctuation.
  • Safety is the first accountability of this role. You will enforce personal protective equipment requirements, lockout/tagout discipline, and safe work practices, conduct safety talks and observations, investigate incidents and near misses, and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • You will monitor production performance against targets for throughput, yield, downtime, and scrap, identify the root causes of loss, and lead or support continuous improvement activity on the line.
  • You will coordinate closely with maintenance, quality, sanitation, and warehouse functions to keep the line running.
  • You will uphold food safety and quality standards including GMPs, HACCP requirements, allergen controls, and sanitation protocols, verify documentation accuracy for production and quality records, and support internal and external audits.
  • People responsibilities include training, coaching, performance feedback, timekeeping approval, and escalating employee relations matters appropriately.
  • You will manage shift handover rigorously, ensuring the incoming supervisor receives an accurate picture of line status, open issues, quality holds, and staffing so that problems do not get lost between shifts.
  • You will also administer attendance and timekeeping accurately, apply company policy consistently and fairly across the team, and partner with human resources on performance and conduct matters that require formal handling.
Requirements
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing production environment is required, with demonstrated accountability for a team's safety, output, and quality performance.
  • You must have working knowledge of manufacturing safety requirements, including lockout/tagout and machine guarding principles, and experience enforcing standards consistently across a shift.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills are essential, along with the ability to make sound decisions under production pressure.
  • You must be comfortable with production reporting systems and basic computer applications, able to work onsite for the full assignment, and available for shift work including nights or weekends as the schedule requires.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in food, beverage, or other regulated manufacturing is strongly preferred, along with practical familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, SQF, or similar food safety frameworks.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies is valued, as is experience with high-speed packaging lines.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish capability is a plus in many production environments, and a degree in operations, engineering, food science, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Experience managing a unionized or represented workforce is valued, as is familiarity with collective bargaining agreement administration.
  • Prior accountability for shift-level key performance indicators, experience leading changeover reduction or downtime elimination projects, and comfort using ERP or MES production systems all strengthen an application.
Compensation and Benefits

This engagement pays an hourly rate in the range of $40.00 to $42.00, based on experience, across a six-month contract with a defined end date. Two positions are available. You…
