Tacoma Venues & Events is looking for someone to join our team as a Communications & Marketing Analyst, Senior (Community Engagement focus). In this pivotal role, you will develop and execute comprehensive communications, marketing, and engagement strategies that advance our vision to connect commerce and culture.
Key Responsibilities Media and CommunicationsUnder the guidance of the Marketing Director, publicize engagement programs, lead and facilitate stakeholder engagement, write and distribute press releases, conduct community outreach, create content with partners, and produce Skill Shops seminars. Serve as liaison to media and public information outlets; write, edit, and publish background materials and talking points; coordinate and create digital media content; and occasionally serve as spokesperson when assigned.
Partnershipsand Project Management
Coordinate the development and implementation of engagement and outreach strategies, cultivating and maintaining relationships with community organizations, schools, non-profits, internal departments, and other external entities. Plan, manage, and execute public events and community initiatives; oversee logistics, vendor coordination, and on-site activation to support department objectives and enhance community relationships. Execute community informational campaigns, creating and presenting visual aids and informational materials, and work with vendors to ensure consistency with branding campaigns.
EducationLead high‑school and college educational engagement initiatives to introduce students to the events and venues industry; plan volunteer and community programs; organize advanced learning opportunities for student interns; partner with higher learning institutions on special projects; organize and execute Skill Shops virtual capacity‑building seminars and in‑person events, including seminar facilitation and identifying and retaining content providers.
City AccessSupport the City permitting process for community events and film productions using the City’s right of way, public ways, parks, and plazas. Support the City’s Events and Recognitions Committee department liaison for committee operations and programming execution. Support access, opportunity, and belonging initiatives, staff goodwill, and participation in community, and other internal communications.
Minimum EducationBachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a directly related field.
* Closely related experience may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis, if necessary, to satisfy the minimum qualifications of this classification.
4 years of public information, community engagement/outreach, and/or marketing experience.
Licensing, Certifications and Other RequirementsThis position requires a Washington State Driver's License.
Physical Requirements & Working ConditionsPositions in this class typically require:
