About Tacoma Area Youth For Christ
Tacoma Area Youth for Christ is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of underserved youth in Tacoma and the greater Pierce County. Serving more than 1,600 youth annually across 13 sites, TYFC engages in 1:1 and group mentorship, teen-parent support, and on-campus programming, building lifelong relationships rooted in faith, trust, and hope.
Position SummaryAs TYFC continues to grow its impact, we are seeking a Development Director to build the partnerships and resources that make this life‑changing ministry possible. In this role, the Development Director partners closely with the Executive Director to lead TYFC's fundraising strategy and ensure the long‑term financial sustainability of the ministry. The role oversees major donor relationships, grants, fundraising events, and the development team, while fostering a culture of biblical stewardship.
WhatYou'll Do
- Lead TYFC's fundraising strategy and annual development plan
- Cultivate and steward major donors and partners
- Plan and oversee fundraising events, and donor engagement initiatives
- Pursue grant opportunities aligned with the mission and vision of TYFC
- Lead the Development Team with Christ-centered leadership and faithful stewardship
- Use fundraising data and Salesforce to strengthen donor relationships and drive results
- Partner with the Executive Director to advance TYFC's mission and fundraising goals
- Demonstrated faith in Jesus Christ and alignment with the YFC Statement of Faith
- Passion for youth ministry and building authentic, long‑term relationships
- Natural connector who brings people together across teams, churches, businesses, and the community
- Strategic, systems thinker who enjoys building processes that strengthen fundraising and ministry
- High‑energy servant leader with strong emotional intelligence and a Gospel-centered approach to leadership
- MUST enjoy building relationships—and talking on the telephone!
- Be comfortable in a public facing role
- Be skilled in giving partner recruitment and relationship cultivation
- Have the ability to inspire, assemble, and mobilize staff to participate enthusiastically, meeting their “circle of influence” goals
- Possess the maturity and ability to interact with all types of people
- Enjoy developing relationships with people over time
- Be detail-oriented and committed to tracking every conversation in your database

- Five or more years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience
- Demonstrated success in major gifts, grants, fundraising events, and donor stewardship
- Experience developing and executing fundraising strategies that produce measurable results
- Strong community networking and relationship‑building skills
- Experience managing donor CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and fundraising data
- Strong project management skills, including grant process management and event planning
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience in youth ministry or a faith-based nonprofit
- Established relationships within the South Sound philanthropic community
This role requires training in the See The Story / Be The Story / YFC Champions Playbook pending Best Practice. This on‑demand virtual training is provided by the Leader Formation Department and will include resources to help fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
