Staff Nurse - Chemotherapy (0.8 FTE)

Join us to provide nursing care to a defined group of patients. This role adheres to Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington’s ambulatory Nursing Care Standards, Nursing Code of Ethics, and policy requirements. The Registered Nurse is a vital member of the health care team, overseeing patient assessment and care plan development.

Job Summary

Provide nursing care to a defined group of patients while coordinating with the broader health care system. Apply the nursing process for ongoing assessment, develop care plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Facilitate patient and family counseling, health promotion, and preventive care. Adhere to safe standards, infection control, documentation, and professional practices.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Use the nursing process to assess and identify patient needs; develop written plans of care. Facilitate goal‑setting with patients and families. Prioritize care based on needs and available resources.
  • Provide safe, competent nursing interventions. Offer telephone and in‑person counseling; evaluate patient responses and anticipate changes. Update care plans collaboratively.
  • Demonstrate understanding of physiological and psychological effects of aging; communicate effectively with age‑specific populations (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric). Participate in education for these populations.
  • Support patients’ psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs; orient to role of care team and available services. Reinforce consumer rights and responsibilities. Identify educational needs and develop teaching components of the care plan.
  • Assess lifestyle risk factors; integrate health‑promotion and preventive measures. Work with patients to improve health status, encouraging self‑care responsibilities.
  • Maintain high quality of care through documentation, safety, infection control, and participation in quality assurance activities. Adhere to staff policies and dress code. Participate in staff orientation, education, and professional development.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Registered Nurse license in Washington (or Compact license) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support required at hire.
  • Prior chemotherapy experience highly preferred; chemotherapy certification required.
  • Ambulatory care nursing experience and primary nursing or case‑management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, leadership, and decision‑making skills.
