Position: Licensed Practical Nurse / LPN, Hospice After Hours On Call

Overview

Job Title: Nurse LVN/LPN After Hours, Hospice

Location: Tacoma, WA (office location)

Position Type: On Call

Coverage Area: Pierce County

Schedule: 5pm-8am Mon-Fri (After Hours On Call)

Compensation: $150 stipend per day + $38-$40/hour when called out + mileage (offer based on years of experience)

Qualifications
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice. Associate degree preferred. CPR certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a licensed healthcare setting; hospice, home health, geriatrics, or medical‑surgical experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and state‑required liability auto insurance.
  • Committed to the organization’s values, mission, and philosophy of care.
  • Ability to walk frequently, sit, stoop, drive, type, lift/move up to 50 lbs, and assist with patient handling up to 200 lbs with help.
  • Comfortable working in varied conditions, including occasional outdoor weather, noise, fumes, chemicals, and uneven surfaces.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care under the guidance of a Hospice RN to support patient comfort, health, and dignity across pre‑hospice, continuous care, and in‑home respite services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team (IDG), patients, families, and physicians to assess needs, coordinate care, and support holistic well‑being.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation and communicate any changes or concerns to the clinical team.
  • Educate patients and caregivers in alignment with the plan of care, promoting understanding, confidence, and comfort.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations, scheduled visits, IDG meetings, and family conferences.
  • Remain current with hospice protocols, licensure, and organizational standards through ongoing training and collaboration.
