Overview

Location

Madigan Army Medical Center is located on JBLM in the Pacific Northwest, near Tacoma and Seattle. The region is known for outdoor recreation, strong community, and access to high‑quality educational and health resources.

Benefits

Salary up to $239,310 annually, with night and weekend differential pay and retention bonuses up to 20% of base pay. Additional benefits include health insurance, a vested pension plan after five years, and performance incentives.

Responsibilities
  • Pre‑Anesthesia Clinic: Conduct comprehensive evaluations in the Surgical Services Center to optimize patients prior to surgery.
  • Independent Practice: Develop and execute anesthetic plans with autonomy, including pharmacologic agent selection and invasive monitoring.
  • Interdisciplinary Pain Management: Collaborate with the IPMC to provide advanced pain relief for post‑surgical and chronic pain patients.
  • Rapid Response: Serve as primary expert for difficult intubations and emergency resuscitations (ACLS/PALS) throughout the hospital and ED.
  • Clinical Instruction: Provide bedside teaching, oversight, and formal evaluations for Student Nurse Anesthetists and residents.
  • Curriculum Support: Deliver in‑services, workshops, and case studies to keep anesthesia staff current on DoD anesthesia protocols.
  • Research & QA: Participate in QA and peer review processes to maintain Joint Commission accreditation standards.
Qualifications

Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Graduate degree (or higher) in Nurse Anesthesia from an accredited program (CCNE, COA, or ACME).
  • Current, active, and unrestricted license in the specialty of anesthesia.
