These positions are located at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. • Deliver advanced, specialized nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients ranging in age from neonate to 18 years.
• Provide support to physicians during complex and potentially life‑threatening procedures, including cardioversion and the insertion of invasive lines such as arterial, venous, and pulmonary artery catheters.
• Prepare and administer high‑risk medications as well as intravenous fluids in support of initiating advanced cardiovascular life support interventions.
• Assess patients’ cardiac output, vital signs, peripheral perfusion, and level of consciousness, and evaluate blood gas results, including arterial and mixed venous oxygen saturation.
• Assess the effectiveness of nursing interventions based on patient responses and modify the care plan as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Design Family Nursing Care Plans to support critically ill patients and their families in achieving the highest possible level of physiological, psychosocial, and psychological outcomes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical/Critical Care). A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program. Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a state or territory; and passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

Experience: At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to GS-9 grade level or above) providing critical care nursing to pediatric, adult, or medical‑surgical patients; administering medications; and operating specialized medical equipment.

Educational Requirement: A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field, OR completion of a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from a professional nursing program. Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education from a professional nursing program also acceptable.

Education:

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities, credentials must be evaluated by a recognized private organization and deemed equivalent to a U.S. program. A degree from a foreign nursing school requires official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools.
