Position Summary
The Pediatric Cardiac Services ARNP provides direct patient care and assumes primary responsibility for clinical management across ambulatory, cardiac catheterization lab, and inpatient settings. This includes providing clinical services such as diagnosis of illness, development and management of treatment plans, and prescription of medication. APPs may see patients independently or as part of the health care team. This role also requires in‑depth conceptual and working knowledge acquired through deep experience in a particular discipline, and may require familiarity in related specialties.
The APP may lead projects of manageable risk or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives, commonly executing a wide range of complex and difficult tasks with minimal guidance. Pediatric Cardiac Services APPs apply new perspectives to existing solutions and serve as key resources for colleagues.
- Deliver comprehensive clinical care to cardiac surgery and cardiology patients in ambulatory clinics, the cardiac cath lab, and inpatient units.
- Obtain detailed patient histories and perform thorough physical examinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies and tests.
- Develop and implement evidence‑based treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with institutional and state guidelines.
- Participate in case management and ensure seamless transitions of care.
- Collaborate closely with attending physicians, specialists, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care.
- Contribute to departmental and organizational quality improvement and performance initiatives.
- Support education and research efforts involving patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program.
- One year of work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
- For Nurse Practitioners:
- Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.
- Current certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner.
- Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association.

Pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
