Nurse Tech Program - Puget Sound Region

The candidate will have a paid position at the time of hire. Candidates earn a wage while working as a Nurse Tech in our program designed to support and accelerate the skills learned in nursing school. Multi Care provides career planning and opportunities to experience various work settings each term via rotations in different areas of the hospital, based upon interest and unit availability, to assist the Nurse Tech in identifying their ideal work environment.

Multi Care also supplies educational opportunities to advance their career path. Upon graduation, candidates will apply to the Multi Care RN Transition to Practice Residency program to transition from student to a professional nurse.

Position Summary

The Nursing Technician is a student enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at an accredited school and has completed at least one academic term, which included a clinical component, or a graduate awaiting the results of their NCLEX exams. The Nursing Technician is responsible for providing direct patient care applying current health concepts and performing routine duties to the level of academic competence accomplished in the individual’s educational program under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.

This entry‑level nursing position requires knowledge, judgment, and skill based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences.

  • Must have completed first term and a clinical rotation of an accredited program.
  • Per‑diem/On call, non‑benefit eligible, nonunion position.
  • Hospital specific and float about every 18 weeks between units that accept Nurse Techs.
  • Opportunity to work between 6, 8, 10 and 12‑hour shifts during the school year, based on availability. One shift per week required.
  • Pay rate: $20.00 flat rate, no benefits.
  • Eligible for an optional $2,500 tuition assistance payment, every 6 months, after a 90‑day probationary period; for every payment received, there is a 6‑month waiting period/work agreement.
  • Career exploration support and an opportunity to work on units of interest.
  • Upon graduation of Nursing School, candidate is encouraged to apply for RN Transition to Practice Residency positions at Multi Care.
  • Employment contingent upon successful criminal background check and drug screen.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care applying current health concepts and performing routine duties to the level of academic competence accomplished in the individual's educational program(s) under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Contribute to the assigned unit nursing team, functioning as a member of the unit.
  • Remain abreast of current trends/information in nursing and apply this knowledge to practice.
  • Attend required unit meetings/classes.
  • Apply knowledge, judgment, and skills as based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled as a student in an accredited school preparing persons to practice as a Registered Nurse and completed at least one academic term which included a clinical component, or a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing awaiting results of licensing exam for Registered Nurse, not more than 30 days past graduation.
  • Documentation of current clinical competencies from completed Nursing School coursework.
  • Current State of Washington Nursing Technician Registered credential.
  • Current Health Care Provider level CPR certification (BLS).
Pay and Benefit Expectations

The wage is a flat rate of $20.00 per hour. The pay scale is $20.00 – $20.00 USD, with adjustments based on skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. The position is not union negotiated and does not offer benefits. The optional tuition assistance payment described above is separate from the wage.
