We are currently seeking an Advanced Practice Provider:
Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner to support our clinic in Tacoma, WA. This position reports to the Clinic Medical Director and offers an immediate and lasting impact in a growing company.
Position Overview
Cedar Wellness Center seeks a Board‑Certified Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner to guide patients toward a better life. This role requires a flexible approach to challenges, willingness to cross‑train, and calm leadership, kindness, creativity, and empathy.
Indian Preference applies. Qualified Indian (American Indian or Alaskan Native) applicants will receive preference in accordance with 25 U.S.C. § 5323 and 25 U.S.C. § 472a.
Minimum Requirements – Physician Assistant
- Active PA board certification AND active PA license
Minimum Requirements – Nurse Practitioner
- Active RN license AND active board certification as an NP
All Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner Applicants Must Have
- Active DEA license or ability to obtain one prior to working with us.
- Ability to pass drug and background screening.
- Ability to provide health and TB clearance.
- Licensure in good standing and adherence to all applicable legal requirements.
Preferred Requirements
- Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- At least 2 years of recent or previous work experience in a substance use disorder setting.
Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Clinical Knowledge:- Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation, and epidemiology of substance use disorders and related medical conditions.
- Performs accurate, complete, concise history and physical assessments appropriate for age, gender, and clinical problem.
- Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets the results.
- Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and alters the plan of care as needed.
- Manages general medical and addiction medicine based on pharmacologic knowledge, indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse reactions.
- Counsels and educates patients and families.
- Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to practice area.
- Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Provides patient and family centered, compassionate, appropriate, and effective care for prevention and treatment.
- Facilitates coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team.
- Incorporates patients and families into care planning and treatment across settings.
- Serves as an advocate for patients and families.
Collaboration:
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with physicians, team members, and health‑related agencies.
- Works effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
- Promotes mutual respect and trust within a team model.
- Communicates effectively with patients and families, considering gender, age, culture, race, religion, disability, and sexual orientation.
- Follows ethical principles regarding patient confidentiality.
- Participates in education of students and other health care professionals.
