Description:
This position involves working in a medical-surgical and telemetry oncology unit.
The unit features 28 beds with patient ratios of 1:4-5.Responsibilities include patient care for oncology and general medical-surgical patients.
Experience with hospice care is beneficial as this unit also houses an inpatient hospice program.
Telemetric capabilities are fully operational; reading and interpreting telemetry strips is a must.
Nurses will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam during onboarding.
Nurses may be required to titrate IV drips such as Heparin and Cardizem.
Charge nurses are present on each shift and typically do not take on patient assignments.
Certified Nursing Assistants will be available to assist with patient care in a designated pod structure.
Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP; respiratory therapists will manage these, while nurses will handle nebulizers and suctioning.
Nurses are required to float within the medical-surgical and telemetry service line as needed.
The schedule includes every other weekend.
Holidays will be rotated with permanent staff.
Professional-looking scrubs are required; t-shirts are not permitted.
Teamwork is emphasized, and candidates should have experience in accessing central lines and changing sterile dressings.
