American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Telemetry RN requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a WA or compact RN license, with floating across multiple units and facilities required.
Details- Acute care setting within a Med/Surg and Telemetry division spanning six specialty units
- Patient populations include surgical, long-term low acuity, general medical, cardiac/COVID, neuro, and ortho/spine cases
- May also float to oncology, ER transition, rapid cardiac decision, or med-surg transition areas
- RN to patient ratio of 4-5 patients, with CNAs supporting at 8-11 patients
- Required to titrate common drips including Insulin, Heparin, Nitro, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Cardizem per unit guidelines
- Telemetry monitored remotely by techs, with RNs verifying strip readings
- Works with CPAP, BiPAP, and trach patients; no ventilator management required
- Uses EPIC charting system
- 12-hour day shifts, full time, every other weekend
- Floating required across all Med/Surg Tele units and potentially to other Region Two facilities
- On-call/standby required up to 4 times during the contract
- May be asked to serve as a CNA or entrance screener if needed, consistent with staff expectations
- Active WA or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Must verify telemetry strip readings accurately
- Experience titrating common IV drips per facility protocol
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Provide direct patient care across multiple Med/Surg and Telemetry units based on staffing needs
- Receive 4 hours of orientation on each of six primary units; alternate units follow standard med-surg care expectations
- Required to take breaks when offered and cannot refuse them
- No specific scrub color required
- Holiday coverage required for 1-2 winter holidays
- House Supervisor coverage provided from 11am-7am, with charge RN support per unit
- Rate differential applies when floated outside of the primary facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- First-time travelers may be considered
