Metrologist

The Metrologist is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining measurement and calibration systems that ensure the accuracy and traceability of dimensional and process measurements. This role supports AST by establishing measurement standards, analyzing data, and implementing best-practice metrology methods to ensure compliance with requirements.

• Advise technical staff and management on selection of proper equipment, standards, and best practices.
• Manage calibration program and maintain measurement devices (micrometers, CMMs, scales) to ensure they meet standards and specifications.
• Lead and mentor a team of QC Technicians.
• Inspect finished products, new parts, and tools for dimensional accuracy and quality, often using complex equipment.
• Create, document, and refine measurement methods, protocols, and standards.
• Analyze measurement data to ensure consistency and troubleshoot discrepancies, reporting findings.
• Develop measurement programs for automated inspection systems.
• Support new product development by advising on measurement feasibility, tolerancing, and inspection planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
