What You'll Do
As a SMIT, we are invested in your growth and expect you to be a key catalyst for the daily operations and team development of the store. The SMIT role is a fast‑track position designed to prepare you for promotion to Store Manager. You will lead, coach, and support your team to deliver exceptional service and achieve business performance.
- Engage with leadership on training initiatives, projects, and performance goals to advance your path to promotion.
- Maintain the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and customer relationships that drive sales and repeat business (e.g., MYGNC Rewards).
- Achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals while helping associates realize their sales potential.
- Build strong teams, provide feedback, recruit, hire, and manage performance.
- Open, close, and operate the retail facility, handling cash, inventory counts, and deposits per GNC procedures.
- Represent GNC at community fairs, conferences, meetings, and other public gatherings.
Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion. After 90 days your performance will be assessed to determine eligibility for Store Manager, based on performance, availability, and willingness to accept a promotion at any location within the designated market.
Environmental Factors & Working Schedule- Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting (below waist and above shoulders).
- Repetitive hand‑to‑finger motions and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequent lifting up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds; push/pull up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and reach/bend.
- Work in temperatures ranging from 50–85°F, particularly in stock room areas.
- Use of a computer up to 60 % of the day.
- SMITs are expected to work five days a week, 40 hours, with the following scheduling expectations:
- Mall and strip‑center stores: at least two nights per week until closing, one weekend night, and one additional night.
- Strip‑center SMITs must also work a full shift on Saturdays.
- Mall SMITs: peak business days including weekends.
- All SMITs: at least one full Sunday per month.
- Downtown SMITs: lunch hour (11 am–2 pm) Monday‑Friday, one night per week until closing if the store is open in the evening. Not required to work Saturdays.
- All major U.S. holidays when the store is open.
