Job Location: Tacoma Subaru - Tacoma, WA 98409
Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $17.50 - $53.00 Hourly

- Perform work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Diagnose vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
- Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Road test vehicles.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Inspect and test drive newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and driveability functions.
- Install optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer.
- Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean. Notify service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
- Keep shop area neat and clean.
- Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition they were received.
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Report any safety issues immediately to management.

QualificationsThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stretch, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb, balance, twist, turn, handle, reach, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment can range from slow to fast paced. The work environment is indoor and outdoor and may include inclement weather. The work environment is a multi-tasking, front line customer service environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to extreme.
