Position: MH-47/MH-60 Aircraft Mechanic I (Avionics/Electrical)
This position will support Aviation Field and Sustainment Level Maintenance on MH-47 and MH-60 rotary wing aircraft as part of our Contractor Field Team. Aircraft Mechanics I must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Makes repairs to aircraft and follows the direction of higher graded workers Move aircraft utilizing towing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems Operate portable firefighting equipment.
  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. Prepare aircraft for washing by ensuring vent areas are taped and all protective covers are in place.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Use and maintain high-pressure wash system.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
  • Performs preflight, thru-flight, and postflight maintenance inspections.
  • Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair.

    Completes all necessary manual and automated records required by USAF and Company directives.
  • Other duties as identified and assigned.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
  • Aircraft Mechanic I (Electrical) must be qualified and experienced in aircraft Electrical maintenance. FA8108-17-D-0010 /FA8108-20-F-0018 Ctrl # 20-DA-005 Section J, Attachment 1 - Performance Work Statement 45. Three (3) or more months aviation maintenance and/or flight line experience is required.
  • Aircraft Mechanic I (Avionics) must be qualified and experienced in Avionics maintenance A working knowledge of corrosion theory and applicable le technical data is desired.
  • May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration.
  • May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technical proficiency is not required.

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.

  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex word and technical documents/diagrams.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language professional journals, technical procedures, government specifications or industry standards.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.

  • Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.
