As a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate at the Korean Women's Association, you will provide essential trauma-informed advocacy services to survivors of intimate partner violence. Your role includes answering WAFHOME’s 24-hour hotline, conducting the screening process for shelter placements, and offering crisis intervention and referrals for those seeking assistance. You will effectively develop safety plans with survivors and facilitate one-on-one and group sessions to educate shelter residents about the dynamics of domestic violence, such as recognizing signs of abuse and understanding healthy relationships.

To excel as a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate with the Korean Women's Association, candidates must possess a diverse skill set and relevant experience. Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook is essential, alongside strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple priorities effectively. Bilingualism is preferred to enhance communication with a diverse client base. A solid understanding of gender-based violence issues, along with knowledge of available service area resources, is critical for providing informed advocacy.

• A minimum of one year of experience in social or human services, particularly in victim/survivor advocacy and crisis intervention, is preferred, along with experience in a domestic violence shelter or transitional housing environment.
• Candidates should be prepared to complete initial and ongoing DV advocacy training to ensure they remain current in best practices for supporting survivors.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple priorities.
• High School Diploma or foreign equivalent required;
  Some college or AA degree (any humanities) preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in social or human services preferred.
• Experience in victim/survivor advocacy and crisis intervention/counseling preferred.
• Experience working in a DV shelter or transitional housing environment preferred.
• Completion of initial 20 hours of DV advocacy training;
  Complete a minimum of 20 hours continued training per year thereafter.
