Position Overview
Part‑time, regular manual labor position at Oasis/ROW, Tacoma, WA.
Hours:
Saturday and Sunday 9 AM–9 PM.
Location:
Oasis Inn – 6802 Tacoma Mall BLVD, Tacoma. Reports to Shelter Operations Manager. Pay: $21.90 – $28.34 hourly.
- Assist clients/participants in completing intake and exit paperwork.
- Monitor individuals entering and exiting the shelter and enforce guest policy.
- Maintain logs and complete incident reports.
- Be on‑site to provide assistance to program participants.
- Monitor activities, safety, security, and cleanliness in the shelter.
- Perform light maintenance and janitorial duties of common areas, entry, kitchen, community space, bathrooms, grounds, and perimeter.
- Prepare vacant units with light maintenance, cleaning, and painting.
- Clean up any biohazards with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Respond to program participants’ concerns and questions.
- Provide information and feedback to the Shelter Operations Manager on ongoing operations and participant welfare.
- Respond to emergencies, perform grounds checks.
- Call 911 in case of emergencies such as fires or injuries.
- Alert LIHI staff and management of incidents, safety concerns, and other related issues.
- Document all incidents and maintenance needs in writing through the assigned platform/system in a timely fashion (within 24–48 hours for non‑emergent issues).
- Foster a clean and safe environment.
- Engage with assigned training and comply with training deadlines.
- Utilize PPE equipment and follow PPE protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work with people with sensitivity to cultural, race, gender, mental health, and class issues.
- Problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Experience providing services to low‑income and/or people experiencing homelessness.
- One year of maintenance, customer service, and/or direct service experience.
- Must have access to reliable transportation.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening test.
