Job Description

For a child who has traveled thousands of miles alone, the ride to their foster home is the first moment someone shows up just for them. As a full-time Driver with Children’s Community Programs of Connecticut (CCP) and our Center for Refugee and Immigration Services (CRIS), you’ll be that person — providing safe, reliable transportation for unaccompanied children as they begin a new chapter in Connecticut.

CCP is a Connecticut nonprofit multiservice agency whose mission is to provide diverse and creative support services to children and families across the state. In the CRIS program, that mission takes on particular urgency: you’ll work alongside case managers, clinicians, educators, and foster families who are all focused on one thing — making sure every child in our care is safe, supported, and seen.

This isn’t a job where your work disappears into a system. You’ll know the children by name. You’ll see the foster families wave from the porch. The impact is immediate and personal.

• Provide transportation to medical appointments, legal proceedings, recreational activities, and community events as needed
• Plan driving routes in advance, prioritizing safety and efficiency across Connecticut
• Maintain consistent, respectful communication with foster families, case managers, and program leadership about schedules, changes, and any concerns
• Report safety concerns and incidents promptly through the appropriate chain of command
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and cleanliness, ensuring the children always ride in a safe, welcoming environment
• Serve as a positive, steady presence for children who may be navigating significant transitions
• As a growing organization, flexibility is part of our DNA — you may occasionally support initiatives outside your core scope.

• High school diploma
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese
• A courteous, professional, and culturally respectful approach in every interaction
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding children, foster families, and sponsor information

• Experience working with immigrant or refugee populations
• Prior experience transporting children and adolescents
• Comfort navigating Connecticut’s roadways across multiple regions

$48,000 – $55,900 annually
