Site Reliability Engineer II

At Axon we are on a mission to Protect Life. As the APX platform engineering organization works on our Cloud Net team, we build and operate mission‑critical cloud native services that power our ecosystem of devices and cloud software.

As a contributor on the Cloud Net team you will deliver solutions to real‑time problems faced by our mission‑critical services and maintain the high quality and reliability that our customers demand. You will work closely with sovereign operations teams and influence engineering across the organization, ensuring that every product sits correctly within our larger networking reality.

• Work on a mixed infrastructure/software team that owns the most important networking‑related aspects of Axon systems.
• Help advance Axon’s journey into Istio service mesh applications.
• Build and operate new features while stewarding existing system components, managing vulnerabilities with precision under regulatory regimes such as FedRAMP.
• Advise software engineers on networking topics through design reviews, ad‑hoc questions, and pair programming sessions.
• Automate routine maintenance of the cloud platform, ensuring minimal downtime (4x9s availability), such as TLS certificate management and automation.

• Able to gain CJIS clearance to ensure full US production access.
• Strong experience working on globally diverse 24/7 high‑volume systems.
• Demonstrated experience and inclination toward networking topics, from infrastructure to services (e.g. service mesh applications, rate limiting, public and private ingress and egress).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to debug problems in cloud native distributed systems.
• Familiarity with the Git Ops approach to software delivery.
• Design and delivery of infrastructure‑as‑code on a public cloud (experience with Azure or other clouds).
• Experience operating components or services in Kubernetes clusters at scale.
• Experience in one or more of the common languages used at Axon:
  Python, Golang, Scala/Java.
• Empathy to support the needs of software engineers with varying levels of networking awareness.

Base Pay Range: $135,000–$154,000 USD
