Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
- Receives, processes and tags incoming material
- Moves inventory materials to their respective area
- Delivers parts to areas in the plant where work is in process
- Performs cycle counting and physical inventories as directed
- Maintains forklift trucks in clean, good working order
- Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to special processes
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to work within a team environment, communicate professionally with team members and vendors, clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
- Ability to organize and prioritize projects and information with accurate turnaround under tight time frames
- Ability to identify, plan, start, and complete projects or other work that needs to be accomplished
Preferred Qualifications
- Materials or warehouse experience
- One or more years’ work experience as a material handler in an industrial setting
- Experience driving a forklift or other heavy equipment

With the exception of clerical, administrative, and some management positions, the physical environment requires the employee to work in hot and cold environments, in and out of the weather, work safely around heavy equipment and on top of and under railcars, as well as around railroad tracks. Employees are required to use personal protective equipment such as steel toe boots, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, welding and grinding shields, etc.,
or as environmental conditions dictate.
