Position Description

Taft College is seeking a pool of qualified candidates with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and staff to provide high quality programs and services for our students. Teaching assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed (as specified in Education Code 8748.25). We are seeking lecturers who have the ability to teach Corrections for inclusion in the Corrections Program adjunct pool and support the development of the Corrections Program at Taft College.

Taft College seeks to develop new Juvenile and Adult Corrections programs to expand access to high-demand public safety pathways while advancing the priorities of California Community Colleges Vision 2030 and the college’s Educational Master Plan. By offering flexible, workforce-aligned training that supports career readiness in correctional services, the programs will support the institutional goals of increasing enrollment, as well as improving student retention and completion through structured pathways.

These new programs will broaden Taft College’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings and deepen partnerships with local law enforcement agencies by strengthening regional workforce development pipelines.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop Course Outline of Record’s (COR’s) for adult corrections course.
  • Develop Program Narratives in compliance with CCCCO requirements.
  • Support in preparing and submitting application materials required by BSCC for the development of new training programs.
  • Support in defining and developing program processes and procedures to ensure compliance with BSCC.
Hours
  • Up to a maximum of 5 hours per Course Outline of Record and 5 hours per program Narrative developed.
Salary
  • $78.86-$92.66 Based on appropriate Adjunct Faculty salary placement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience closely related to the area of assignment; OR
  • Any associate degree AND six years of professional experience closely related to the area of assignment; OR
  • An Equivalency Determination may be submitted along with all application materials to be considered for this position if you do not meet the stated minimum qualifications. The Equivalency Determination document may be found here Request for Equivalency.

Must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing or delivering BSCC-approved Correctional Officer Core programs.
  • Working knowledge of or ability to meet California BSCC certification requirements for Correctional Core Course delivery.
  • Experience in curriculum and CTE program development.
  • Experience in Adult and/or Juvenile Corrections
  • Experience teaching in community college, academy, or law enforcement training environments.
