Position SummaryThe Retail Clerk provides customer service, processes payments, and maintains the sales floor. The expectation of this position is to achieve organizational, team and personal goals in alignment with our Strategic Vision Priorities and through living out our organizational Values.
Responsibilities- Provide friendly, efficient customer service on the sales floor.
- Process payments accurately using the point‑of‑sale system.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and stock areas.
- Assist with inventory, receiving, and restocking merchandise.
- Adhere to Goodwill ethics, policies, procedures, and the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
- Collaborate with management and staff to achieve overall organizational goals.
- Maintain acceptable productivity levels and complete daily cash handling and reconciliation accurately.
- Promote a favorable image of the organization and work cooperatively with all employees, participants, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Consistent with Goodwill ethics, policies, procedures, goals and mission.
- Work collaboratively with management and staff to achieve overall organizational goals.
- Ensure accounts payable/disbursement functions are completed accurately and timely.
- Be punctual and regular; understand that time away from work is approved in accordance with established policies.
- Perform duties in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects Goodwill’s core values.
- Work in accordance with Goodwill policies, procedures and generally accepted business practices.
- Maintain a professional image while interacting with employees, participants, customers and other persons.
- Basic mathematical skills and ability to read English.
- Intermediate computer, keyboarding, and photography skills.
- One year of experience in a retail environment with some cash handling experience.
- Basic math operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages.
- Ability to read, write, present information clearly and respond to questions from groups and individuals.
- Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret instructions and handle abstract and concrete variables with judgment, resourcefulness, ingenuity, and initiative.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills at all management and staff levels.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, telephone, cell phone, tablet, fax and copy machine.
- High level of integrity and business ethics.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 lbs; frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; continuous lifting up to 70 lbs.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, standing, and reaching over shoulder.
- Requires near, mid‑range, and far vision as well as depth perception and color vision.
- Exposures: indoor and outdoor environments, dust, weather, fumes/gases, vibration, and other general workplace hazards as listed in the original section.
