Staff Accountant

Position: Staff Accountant I - Full Time
Description

Position Summary

Assists the Accounting Director in all functions including reporting of the hospital, managed hospitals, and hospital's joint ventures financial operations.

Position Accountabilities

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Assumes responsibility for the correct and accurate accounting classification of expenditures and documents, including capital and others.

Oversees the maintenance of company general ledgers.

Posts journal entries and balances books of account, such as cashbook, general journal, sales book, purchase register, and general and subsidiary ledgers.

Reconciles bank statements and other miscellaneous statements.

Conducts special accounting studies and prepares reports accordingly.

Assists independent auditors with interim and year-end audit.

Assists with budget preparation.

Follows policies and procedures regarding attendance and work hours.

Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.

Attends meetings as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

Minimum Education - Bachelors Degree

Minimum Experience - Sufficient previous experience in finance, preferably in a hospital setting

Minimum Field-of-Experience - Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance

Preferred Experience - 1 to 2 years general accounting

Preferred Course(s)/Training - Excel/Word

Preferred Certification - Accounting Degree
