Job summaryThis position provides secretarial support for assigned university operations.
- Prepare a variety of correspondence.
- Makes travel arrangements for assigned personnel.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors: provides information and assistance; takes messages; refers to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains office supply inventory; reorders as needed.
- Sorts and distributes mail.
- Makes appointments and manages calendars.
- Maintains a variety of documents and forms.
- Directs the work of student employees as assigned.
- Enters information to computerized databases.
- Prepares a variety of schedules and calendars.
- Be knowledgeable about services offered.
- Be able to work with a wide variety of people in many capacities.

The supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor sport-checks completed work for compliance with procedure, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Complexity/Scope of WorkThe work consists of related secretarial duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position. This job requires interaction with clients of many ages, abilities, and knowledge-bases; the ability to build rapport, communicate in English, and the ability to multitask are essential. The purpose of this position is to provide secretarial support for assigned university operations. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.
ContactsContacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, students, faculty, and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, or to resolve problems.
Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentThe work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects. The work is typically performed in the department of health and kinesiology. Supervisory and management responsibility. The position may have functional supervision over student workers as assigned.
Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Annual salary $25,536.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time. Anticipated hire date: 10/12/2026
